Norfolk Island Pine, Araucaria heterophylla, has gained popularity in recent years and is now a houseplant with a strong trend factor.

The Norfolk Island Pine has light green, soft needles that stay on all year round. The branches grow in layers and can eventually reach up to two meters high. A Norfolk Island Pine in solitary majesty in a stylish pot brings life to your home, but it also pairs well with other green plants. Create cool combinations on the floor, in window nooks, or on side tables, with large-leaved, variegated, or red-leaved plants such as calathea, monstera, and palmaralia. Add different textures and expressions to pots for a lively still life.

Location
The Norfolk Island Pine thrives in a bright location in the home. An enclosed, frost-free conservatory is optimal. Avoid direct sunlight and placing near heaters. During the summer months, you can also decorate with it on the balcony and terrace in a shady location.

Water
The Norfolk Island Pine prefers more water during the summer. The soil should be kept lightly moist, while you can be more sparing with watering during the winter (especially in cool locations). Too much water or too warm a location can cause the Norfolk Island Pine to shed needles. The plant stays fresher if it gets a shower every now and then.

Nutrients
Add half a dose of nutrients to the water once a week from spring to autumn so that the plant gets the nutrients it needs to develop properly.

Repot room tree

When the fir tree has grown a few decimeters, it's a good idea to replant it in a larger pot. This way, the roots have more space and the plant stands more stable. Use Plantagen's potting soil and a plastic or terracotta planting pot that is about a decimeter larger in diameter than the existing one. Water so that the soil is thoroughly soaked after replanting.

With a small string of lights and some feather-light decorations, you can create a modern Christmas tree.
